Northwest Ghosts & Legends Sept Trip

Let's do a Ghost and Legends Loop through the Northwest corner of Utah (Box Elder County).  Just after the Labor Day weekend and after the summer's heat.

September 6th & 7th, that's Wednesday and Thursday, with an overnight stay in West Wendover.

Note: There will be some dirt roads.

September 6th: Let's meet for Lunch (TBD - SLC) at 11:30 am.  After lunch ~ 1:00 pm we'll pick up the Itinerary as follows:

From Lunch, we'll head West to Garfield Utah - Ghost Town

     Option 1 Via UT201 West to UT202 Northwest over I-80 to the stop sign ~19 miles 20 miles.

     Option 2 Via I-80 West to Exit 104 - West to the stop sign ~19 miles 20 miles.

The Garfield & Black Rock Beach Monuments are on the south side of the intersection.

From the Garfield stop sign - take Saltair Drive - North - 2.3 miles to the Old Saltair Site,

Back to I-80 interchange Exit 104 - 2.3 miles.

 

Then West on I-80 - To Delle Utah - Ghost Town - 35 miles 31 minutes.

Then West on I-80 - To West Wendover - 72 miles 61 minutes.

Overnight (Sep 6th) West Wendover (Check In - Gas up Miatas - R&R - Dinner, Party).

Sep 6th totals ~123 miles 1 Hr 50 min drive time + stops.

 

September 7th: After breakfast - departure time 9:00 am. It's going to be a long day - bring snacks and drinks.

Head West on I-80 - To Oasis Nevada - 32 miles 30 minutes.

Then Northeast on NV 233  - To Montello Nevada (rest stop/gas) - 23 Miles 20 min.

Continue Northeast on NV 223 then UT 30 - To the Lucin turn off - 19 miles 20 min.

Turn Right/South at the Lucin turn off - dirt road - 5.7 miles 15 minutes.

Arrive  - Lucin Ghost Town - back to UT 30 - 5.7 miles 15 minutes.

 

Cross UT 30 - continue North - dirt road - to Grouse Creek - 30 miles 40 minutes.

Grouse Creek (rest stop/gas) not a Ghost Town but a Legend - just need to see it.

Return to UT 30 from Grouse Creek - 30 miles 40 minutes.

 

East on UT 30 - To Rosette - Ghost Town - 51 miles 60 minutes.

Continue East on UT 30 - To Park Valley - Ghost Town - 4 miles 4 minutes.

From Park Valley turn south - Russian Cemetery/Ghost Town - dirt road - 7.21 miles 15 minutes.

 

Russian Cemetery - Return to Park Valley - 7.21 miles 15 minutes.

Continue East on UT 30 - To Kelton turnoff - 10 miles 10 minutes.

At Kelton Road turn south to - Kelton Ghost Town - dirt road - 7 miles 15 minutes.

From Kelton - Return to UT 30 - 7 miles 15 minutes.

Snowville - rest stop - late lunch- gas.

Note: From West Wendover (with sites) to Snowville - 223 miles 4 hrs 8 min + stops.

I-84/I-15 South - To Salt Lake City/Home 108 miles 80 minutes.

Sep 7th totals ~351 miles 6 Hr 12  min drive time.  We'll need to gas up at least once.

Total Loop 474 miles 8 hrs 10 min drive time + stops.

That's 9 Ghost Towns & 1 Legend!
