Surf-N-Safari Event

October 8-11, 2015

The San Diego Miata Club's Surf-N-Safari event is first week in October.  This is guaranteed to be a great event held at the Hilton Garden Inn on Carlsbad Beach in Carlsbad, California, which is just north of San Diego. It will be a fairly detailed event with miata members from about 23 Miata Clubs or groups attending.  We have 26 members from our club participating. A few of our out of state members; Collings, Porters, and Al Brown and Cyndee Boyvee will be attending who will meet us there. Cyndee and Al are driving out from Florida,  and I assume they will win the recognition for most miles traveled to this event.  Most of our group is driving down on an additional 4 day excursion working our way down via scenic back roads thru Arizona, Nevada and California, but a few others have their own itinerary. This is guaranteed to be lots of fun as the San Diego Miata Club knows how to party.

The SDMC has given me permission to use their event logo in our club advertising. I will make up some custom shirts and hats for our club to wear at the event.  We have customized the Surf-N-Safari logo and personalized it for our Utah Club.   A catch phrase, "Catch the Wave" will be our slogan on the shirts incorporating the SDMC event logo.  We also have "San Diego or Bust" above the map showing the route we will take there and back.  The map is printed on the back of T-Shirts.  We also have embroidered hats with the Official Utah

Club logo on them.  In addition we will have our standard 5" round Event Logo Magnets for our Miatas so everyone in Carlsbad will know which Miatas are from the Utah Club.

Lou and Steve B. are once again in charge of planning the route to San Diego area with a great itinerary for the trip down and back.  We will have stops in Kanab, UT., the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, Williams, AZ. and criss-crossing along the Arizona/Nevada border to Laughlin, NV. via Oatman,  Bullhead City and Lake Havasau and down through Joshua Tree Natl. Forest, CA., Indio, CA. and finally to Carlsbad, CA., our destination.  On the way home we will travel to Las Vegas and spend the night there before heading back home. It is going to be a very fun trip for all involved and a great way to cap the Fall season driving with a trip to Southern California and a chance to play on the beach before we head into winter.
